Life's not about fixing what's broken

Stop Chasing Happiness ~ Instead Seek Peace

There is nothing inherently “wrong” with anyone of us. Everything within us, no matter how distressing, exists for a purpose; there is nothing that shouldn’t be there, troublesome and even debilitating though these parts may be.

Instead of how to get rid of them, maybe we can turn it into a curious question, such as What is it for? Why is it here? In other words we turn this into a chance to explore and know the abrasive aspects of ourselves. Then, as best we can to turn them from foes into friends.

The truth is that these aspects of ourselves have always served our best interests, their origins are there to protect and assist us even when they seem to derail our lives.

The aim now is to dig deep into the parts of us that may be irksome but actually just want to help. We must give them the space and acknowledge them, not fight to quiet or ignore them. When we give these parts of us some space and to acknowledge them they will feel heard. At the same time they must learn that while they can sit at the table, they can not turn it upside down every time they feel threatened by something that is happening in our life.

If you're struggling to get control of your inner dialogue I can help. Hit reply, drop me a message and we can arrange a chat.
